Workout Wednesday and Weight In

Fitness: Stairwell workout: step-ups, squats, dips, crunches 4x30 seconds (roughly a 12 minute workout)

We are going to learn how to do the stairwell workout from a co-worker today!

We did our weigh in today.  Clothes on, I went from 209  to 208.  I need to step up my game.  There's $100 on the line!

Fitness/Weight Loss Challeneges at Work

It’s amazing when you decide to make a positive change in your life how other positive changes start to happen around you.

I’m participating in two fitness challenges at work!

One involves my entire team at work and includes a health and fitness portion each day of the week. The other is a weight loss challenge with two other co-workers.

Fitness Challenge w/ All 
  • Fresh Start Monday’s
    • Health: Give up your guilty pleasure for something fresh.
  • Take the Stair’s Tuesday’s
    • Health: Eat breakfast by 8:30am
    • Fitness: Take the stairs all day
  • Workout Wednesday
    • Health: Eat breakfast by 8:30am
    • Fitness: Stairwell workout: step-ups, squats, dips, crunches 4x30 seconds (roughly a 12 minute workout)
  • Thirsty Thursdays
    • Health: Drink 1.5 liters of water today
    • Fitness: Park in the far corner of the parking lot today
  • Fitness Friday
    • Health: Eat breakfast by 8:30am
    • Fitness: 23 minute group walk or cycle. Go for a walk outside or use the treadmills/stationary bikes in the gym.
  • Saturday/Sunday (think about including your family)
    • Fitness: 20-30 minutes of your favorite activity….(the wii counts)
We have a point system for the lifestyle challenge which will be tracked using a sticker board (yeah! Think Kindergarten style).  The winner will get a free one hour massage!  This challenge starts on Monday, January 25th.

Weight Loss Challenge

There are three of us at work that have decided to ramp up our efforts and challenge each other to a weight loss goal. The goal: 10 weeks to lose 20 lbs. We are each chipping in $20 and going to ask our manager to chip in an additional $40 for a total of $100 prize for whoever gets the closest to the goal. The idea here is that the money would be a good start for some new clothes (which we would surely need after losing 20 lbs). We weigh 180, 190 and 209 lbs - of all varying heights are between 5’5” and 5’10”. I should note here that this was wearing our work clothes which are heavier then when I weight myself at home.

We are going to do a group weigh in each Wednesday until the final Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

This Morning...

Started out great!

I was up at 6:15am, got the coffee going and had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. I turned on the morning news and got the laundry in the drier and the dishwasher loaded and turned on. I put a roast with yummy vegetables and potatoes in the crock pot for supper tonight too!

Jordan is came home early yesterday from work and is still feeling sick, so he stayed in bed/at home. I woke his brother, who is staying with us for a couple of weeks – he is also sick. He was warm, but I don’t think fever (Jordan’s going to check on him mid morning). We’re letting him stay at home today as well – but he woke up and had a bowl of cereal before going back to his room.

Jordan’s brother’s dog is also staying with us for a few weeks, once I got my lunch made – I took Koda for a walk. We were out for about 15 minutes. Just a short one this morning, but I hope to get longer as time goes by.

I watched a few more minutes of news, said goodbye to Jordan and his brother and was out the door by 7:30am. I felt really good!

Unfortunately, as I was walking through the parking lot at work I slipped and fell pretty hard on some ice – my knee got all scraped up and I was quite a mess. I hobbled up to one of the health and safety team members and she patched me up and then came and checked on me, changed my bandage/cleaned wound and left me with a disinfectant for later if I need it.

So – great start, mediocre once I got to work – hopefully the rest of the day goes smoothly.

This Morning

I got up at 6:13am and accomlished:

  • making coffee
  • emptying and loading the dishwasher
  • Flipping clothes to the drier
  • watching the morning news
  • making healthy lunches for Jordan and I
  • doing a body test on the Wii fit
  • fiddling with my aunts new laptop
  • getting ready for work with lots of time = feeling good when I left for work

I Feel So Good...

...this morning!

I made just two personal goals for myself this year:

  • Give myself more time in the morning to get ready for work.
    •  often find that I wind up sleeping in and so only have 20 minutes to get out the door (or less). I want to push that to an hour and get my mind in body in shape using that time.
  • Be a healthier me
    • This means taking the stairs at work, drinking more water, being more active in general & eating salad
I started off today on the right foot!

I got up at 6:10am instead of 7:00am!  Here's what I accomplished (in no particular order):
  • Got my washed laundry into the drier and had enough time that I could actually wear the clothes
  • Had a shower and felt good about myself as I was getting ready for the day
  • Did 15 minutes on my Wii Fit
  • Made a pot of coffee
  • Had a coffee and watched some morning news
  • Made my lunch and Jordan's lunch
  • Warmed up the car so I didn't freeze on the way to work
  • Got to work on time and in a good mood
I'll reiterate... I'm feeling good today!
